Having tried the New Thriving, which is fine for an evening out, we also tried a budget place called Kamboat on Sherrif street as well as the Chinese restaurant at Buddys. Buddys can be a bit crowded and raucous. Kamboat has a bit of a decor problem and a stale carpet. Either restaurant is fondly remembered for the spliced ginger in it’s dishes and the rehydrated black fungus as well as the succulent meat. There are many Chinese restaurants in the city and though we don’t intend to try them all, I should find time to post the ones we do try.
